PATIENTS

What to expect:

  • A medical clearance form will be given to the patient’s physician and must be filled and emailed to the doctor at SafeSleepDA@gmail.com prior to surgery, and a copy brought to the day of surgery.
  • Patient will need to present with an escort on the day of surgery, as judgement can be impaired for 24 hours and will be unable to operate machinery.
  • NO food or drink 8 hours prior to surgery.
    • Presence of food/ drink in the stomach can lead to aspiration of the stomach content into the lungs. This can lead to serious lung complications, hospitalizations and even death.
  • Medication should be taken/omitted per anesthesiologist’s instructions.
  • Wear loose t-shirt and pants for IV line and monitor placement.
  • Wear eye glasses instead of contacts to surgery.
  • Parents, please watch your child, yourself, very closely to ensure they do not eat or drink before surgery.
  • Bring an extra pair of clothing and blanket for your child to the day of surgery.
